  Project Objectives

The objective of this project is to study and select different technologies to manufacture semi-finished pieces suitable for the automotive sector containing continue fibres or textiles as structural element and a thermoplastic material as a matrix, with the following characteristics:

- Process with high production rate, working at high pressure and high processing temperature.

- Suitable design able to be used with standard constructive elements and easy to become automatic and controlled.

- Based on market available plastic processing machinery. The study will be focused on the production of plaques or products by injection moulding or injection compression-moulding using a continuous fibre or textile like a label and in thermoformed sheet made by extrusion, co-extrusion or pultrusion process.

- Robust and versatile process, i.e., with the possibility of working with a wide range of thermoplastics resins and fibres of different qualities, weight and dispositions.

- Capable of feeding a great amount of continuous fibre, no less than 40% in volume.
